Through the Pain

Dear Avie,

Daddy helped pull you out into this world.

He handed you to me.

I held you on my chest for just a moment, you struggled to breathe.

When you came out of Mommy you weren’t breathing.

Your body was a purplish blue.

I was so scared.

I cried out loud.

They took you from my chest and laid you on the bed beside the tub.

Your Daddy was there by your side.

The weeping echoed throughout the room.

My sweet baby girl.

You almost left this world a few times during your short precious life.

We are so lucky to have had the best two and a half years with you.

It was worth every last tear drop of pain.

With the pain there was first happiness.

This happiness was refilled every day with your presence.

Now you’re living on through our memories of you.

We have to start smiling for our future and embrace this gift that is you.
